American Apollo is first published.

It is published by Joseph Belknap and Alexander Young initially from a shop on State Street and then from a shop on today’s Congress Street in front of Faneuil Hall. A Friday weekly, it includes news, features essays on “moral, political or poetical matters,” and the initial publications of the Massachusetts Historical Society. The last issue appears on December 25, 1794.
